Recycling Lives offers a wide range of recycling and waste management solutions, including metal recycling, FPD recycling, plastic recycling, WEEE and CRT recycling and scrap car salvaging. They divert waste from landfill and help companies to reduce their carbon footprint. Additionally this commercial service helps to support their social welfare charity, a side arm which helps vulnerable people to work their way back to independent living.
They are a Queen’s Award-winning commercial recycler with over forty years experience in the recycling and waste management industry.
Recycling Lives was supported through the Growth Mentoring programme delivered by Community & Business Partners. They required assistance to develop their expansion plans first for the rest of Lancashire and eventually nationally. Alongside this they wanted to find further ways to improve the cash flow from the supply chain through to the internal systems and processes and where to source investment.
Recycling Lives were allocated an experienced business mentor, Peter Cloney, who had knowledge from growing his own business, to help guide them in developing their growth plans. They also required assistance in understanding the procurement process for public sector contracts. In addition they discussed the acquisition of capital to support their plans.
Following Peters support Recycling Lives has refined their corporate strategy and developed a growth plan to expand into Lancashire and they are creating a model that will be scalable to region wide and then nationwide, attracting blue chip clients throughout the nation and growing the company considerably. They have created and filled a further 4 vacancies. Additionally they have increased sales, partly from the support and combined with some organic growth.
Community and Business Partners will continue contact with Recycling Lives to offer in house support in the future, including the Lancashire HR Employers Forum which is of interest to them. They have been referred to the Business Angels to look at investment and to Innovaris to look at innovative processes. Additionally they will be kept up to date with information and further support available through BOOST Business Lancashire.

“All of the senior management team met with Peter and have been very happy with the support he has given, particularly in relation to sharing his experience in taking a similar journey. Peter was able to discuss specific scenarios and in relation to our plans going forward which has helped us to avoid potential mistakes and continue to grow the business”
